Animations for Veritasium
Physics simulations, math visualisations, and explainer graphics for one of the world's largest science channels.
I worked with Derek Muller and the Veritasium team starting on 2019 until 2025. It all started with an email I sent Derek as a fan trying to help grow the channel and it ended up being an incredible 6 years of working together
I started making mostly vector based animation in After Effects, and I would usually take care of the whole animation process from storyboarding to illustration, rigging, animation and compositing.
As the we worked more and more together, I started to make more technically challenging animations. This required to learn about a lot of complex topics, and to truly understand the math beneath.
Not having a science background this was definitely a challenge but also super rewarding to me: I've always loved science, and I spent a lot of time learning on my own, researching and trying to understand.
It was all just genuine interest in learning and I think that really paid off, as I found myself to be really good at representing complex things.
The comment above is about the Micromouse video. For this one I programmed a Python script to run simulations on mazes, then export them as CSV and import into Cavalry to animate.
This is a workflow I would later switch to as I found Cavalry to be much better for processing large or complex vector-based rigs. This also allowed me to include programming much more on my work.
I'm very grateful to have worked for this channel, and with such brilliant people.
